Small Space Gardening
Perfect for renters, students, retirees, apartment dwellers, and anyone with limited space, this practical workshop demonstrates how food can be grown almost anywhere. Participants will discover creative ways to produce fresh food and support local wildlife, whether they have access to a balcony, courtyard, rooftop, verge, shared space, a neighbour's garden, or a community garden.
This inspiring session explores simple, affordable, and sustainable gardening techniques that make the most of small or unconventional spaces. Participants will learn how to overcome common barriers to growing food and gain confidence to start their own productive garden, no matter where they live.
A highlight of the workshop is a live demonstration showing how to build a lightweight, portable wicking bed using recycled polystyrene (styrofoam) boxes. The completed wicking bed will be given away as a door prize at the end of the session.
